TEN SUNS (落日,Luò rì)
Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese Myth of Hou Yi and the Ten Suns, Ten Suns is a 3rd person single player, action adventure experience, made with the Unity Game Engine.
Design Goals
To craft a single-player experience that focus on using different exposition methods based on MMDA to convey the tale of a Chinese Myth. Use of environment story-telling to bring out the Asthetic of Discovery. Simple and relevant game mechanics that supports the story. Adequate gameplay challenges to pace the highs and lows of the game.
Gameplay Concept
The player plays as Hou Yi and roams the scorched land to hunt down the 10 colossal beasts.
Gameplay Mechanics
Simple platforming that revolves around movement and navigation through the terrains. Simple bow shooting mechanic that uses auto targetting and press-and-hold input to determine the power of the shot. Primary challenge comes with determining opening in the enemy movement and gauging the shot strength.
Enemy behaviours
Minions, simple AI that has small intervals in their patrol pattern to allow the player to fire at them.
Bosses
Each boss has a unique set of actions that players have to figure out its pattern and striking its weakness when opening arises.
